About us
Creative Tendring is a new programme bringing people together across the district. Over the next 3 years we’ll be spending time listening, building relationships, and working with residents to explore ideas, support creativity locally, and help communities to shape opportunities for the people and places of Tendring.
Funded by Arts Council England as part of the Creative People and Places programme, Creative Tendring’s purpose is to help more people take part in creativity and culture. There is already a huge amount of creativty, knowledge, and community spirit here. We’re here to build on what’s already happening, not replace it.
Whether you have an idea, want to get involved in local acitivities, or simply want to see what’s happening, there’s a place for you.
Our consortium
Creative Tendring is led by a consortium, bringing together a mix of local knowledge, creative experience, and community expertise.
Arts Trust Productions (lead organisation)
Arts Trust Productions is the lead organisation behind Creative Tendring. Since 2012, the charity has delivered festivals, cultural events and creative projects that connect people with high-quality arts and culture, while working to address barriers that can prevent people from taking part.
For Arts Trust Productions, Creative Tendring is an opportunity to back ideas that come from local people and give them the time and support they need to develop. The hope is that more residents feel able to take an idea from a conversation to something real, whether that's an event, a project or something entirely unexpected.
Tendring District Council
Tendring District Council provides a wide range of services for residents across the district and works with local organisations, community groups and partners to support the wellbeing and prosperity of local communities.
Through Creative Tendring, the council hopes more residents will feel able to influence what happens in their area and see ideas they care about turned into reality. It's an opportunity to build on the pride, ambition and creativity that already exists across Tendring and strengthen the connections between the people and organisations working to make the district a better place to live.
Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST)
CVST has been supporting communities across Tendring for more than 50 years. Working closely with local groups, volunteers and residents, the organisation helps people connect, build confidence and strengthen the communities they care about.
CVST wants Creative Tendring to reach people who don't always feel opportunities like this are for them. For the organisation, success means hearing from communities that are often overlooked and making sure local knowledge and experience help shape what happens next.
Harwich Arts and Heritage Centre
Home to the Harwich Festival and a year-round programme of events, Harwich Arts and Heritage Centre brings people together through creativity, performance, heritage and shared experiences. Its work focuses on making culture accessible, welcoming and relevant to local communities.
For Harwich Arts and Heritage Centre, Creative Tendring is an opportunity to encourage more people to discover creativity in ways that feel natural and enjoyable. Whether that's attending an event, learning a new skill, sharing an idea or leading something themselves, the aim is simply to help more people find a place within the district's cultural life.
