Why is this money being spent on Creative Tendring ?

1

Creative Tendring is funded by Arts Council England through the Creative People and Places programme. The funding is specifically allocated for increasing participation in creativity and culture and cannot be transferred to local authority budgets.

If Tendring had not received this funding, it would have been awarded to another area through the same national programme.

What is Creative People and Places?

2

Creative People and Places is a national programme run by Arts Council England. It was created to support places where participation in arts and culture has historically been lower than the national average.

The programme invests in local partnerships and gives them the time and resources to work with communities, develop ideas and encourage more people to take part in creativity and culture in ways that feel relevant to where they live.

Creative Tendring is the local Creative People and Places programme for Tendring.

Is Creative Tendring a grant programme?

3

No. Creative Tendring is not a grant fund. The programme will work directly with residents, communities, and partners to develop ideas and activity.

Do I need experience to get involved?

4

The first stage of the programme is focused on meeting people.

We'll be spending time with residents, community groups, schools, local organisations across the district, learning more about what already exists, hearing new ideas, and understanding what matters most to people.

This will help shape the next stages of the programme and ensure future activity reflects the needs and ambitions of communities across Tendring.

What will Creative Tendring be doing first?

5

No. Creative Tendring is open to anyone with an interest in where they live and what happens there.

Creative Tendring is for anyone who lives, works or spends time in the district. Some people may want to take part in events and activities, others may have ideas they'd like to explore, and some may be interested in what's happening where they live. There is no right or wrong way to get involved.

Yes. Creative Tendring will have opportunities for young people to contribute ideas, take part in activities, and help shape the direction of the programme. We want to understand what matters to younger residents and make sure their voices are reflected in what develops over the next three years.

For now, check out Side Quest Summer.

We're currently developing plans for a network of Creative Tendring ambassadors and will share more information in the coming months.

We're looking for people who care about their local area, enjoy connecting with others and would like to help us build relationships across the district. No special qualifications or previous experience are required.

If you're interested in becoming a Creative Tendring ambassador, we'd love to hear from you.
