Side Quest Summer
A summer of adventure for 16-25 year olds living in Tendring.
We’ve devised a list of missions for you to complete by 1 September. You can take on one or all eight. You can do them alone or with friends. You can spend five minutes or the whole summer. It’s up to you.
How it works:
Pick a Side Quest.
Complete it in your own way, we have prompts to give you ideas, but it’s up to you how you do it.
Document it: photos, videos, voice notes, writing, drawings, paintings, playlists, zines, journals, however you want to share the story.
Send it to us: tag us on social media, or email it (if you’ve created something physical, take a photo or video of it).

1
Main character energy
Find a place in Tendring that feels like a film scene. Maybe a dramatic sea view, a car park at sunset, the moon over a field.
Capture a photo or short video that makes ordinary Tendring look extraordinary. Bonus points if it looks like the opening shot of an A24 film or a 90s screensaver.
2
Tiny Adventure
Go somewhere in Tendring you’ve never been before. A beach, a village, a footpath, a park, a place you’ve walked past a hundred times, but never actually explored. Find something you liked, or that surprised you, or something you’d tell somebody else about.
Document it in your own way.
3
Level up
Learn something, literally anything. A new skateboard trick, a dance routine, crochet, nail art, perfect cooking a meal, the identification of the birds you see on your street. You don’t need to become an expert, just start somewhere and see what happens.
Keep a log.
4
The weird find
What is the weirdest thing you’ve come across all summer? A random object? A local legend? A funny story?
Record your discovery.
5
Location scout
Where’s your place? Not home or school or work. A place you choose to spend time. The beach, a club, a football pitch, a library, a park, a random bench with a good view.
Show us your place and tell us why it matters.
6
Touch grass
Go outside. Watch a sunset, look at the clouds, sit by the sea, watch the wind in the trees, look for constellations. What’s something you noticed that you normally wouldn’t? Something that caught your attention.
Capture it.
7
Make your mark
Make something. Inspired by summer, by where you live, or something on your mind.
A playlist, a painting, a short film, a drawing, a song, a comic, a short story.
8
Send a message
Write something. It can be a rant, a thank you to someone, advice for future you, a message to us.
A letter, a bar, a poem, a rant.
How?
You can go ahead and get started right away.
If you’re struggling to complete a mission, or want to get involved in something creative over the summer check out our Side Quest Summer Inspo section where we’ll list different events, workshops, and activities you can take part in to help complete your missions.
What’s in it for you?
Your work may be shared and promoted (with your permission).
You will be entered into a draw to become a Side Quest Master for the future.
You’ll help influence projects in Tendring.
If you complete all 8 quests you’ll be entered into a draw where you could receive for you to get tickets to whatever you choose.
